What happens after I submit the form?

The process is designed to be clear and low-pressure.

  1. You answer questions. Provide your name, phone, state, whether you have a VA decision, the type of issue, and representation status. No medical records or file numbers are required.
  2. We check state rules. Some states are not served. If your state is blocked, nothing is stored or forwarded.
  3. Milberg, PLLC reviews the information. The firm looks at the decision date, issue type, and eligibility criteria.
  4. The firm contacts you if it can help. You will hear from the firm or be told that it cannot assist. No attorney-client relationship is created by submitting the form.

How long does the review take?

Review times vary. The firm aims to respond promptly, but there is no guaranteed turnaround. Board averages published by the Board of Veterans' Appeals are about 7 months for Direct Review, about 8 months for Evidence Submission, and about 2.4 years for Hearing (BVA, 2026). Those are averages, not promises for any individual case.

What information do I need ready?

Have the approximate date of the decision letter and a short description of the issue (denied service connection, low rating, effective date, TDIU, secondary condition, or Board denial). You do not need the full claims file at this stage.

Can I still get free help from a VSO?

Yes. Accredited Veterans Service Organizations provide free help at every stage. Many veterans use a VSO for the initial claim and later speak with a law firm only if they want paid representation after a denial. See the free help page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to upload documents?
No. The form asks only for basic information. Do not send medical records, a DD-214, or your VA file number.
What if I am already represented?
If you already have an attorney, the firm generally cannot take the case. VSOs and attorneys may not both represent you at the same time for the same claim.
Is my information shared with the VA?
No. VA Disability Help and Milberg, PLLC are private. Information is used only to review your request and is not sent to the Department of Veterans Affairs by this website.
What happens if the firm cannot help?
You will be told. You can still contact a Veterans Service Organization or the VA for free assistance.
